5 Days Later, API Undercuts Its Climate Pledge Gimmick
Big Oil Back to Its Old Tricks, Angry Biden Administration Won’t Fund Climate-Worsening Oil Pipelines in Infrastructure Proposal
Today, American Petroleum Institute (API) put out a press release complaining that President Biden’s proposed $2 trillion infrastructure proposal does not include money for climate change-worsening oil pipelines. The complaint comes less than a week after API released their “Climate Action Framework,” claiming they want to help the Biden administration meet the challenge of “ushering in a lower-carbon future.” Accountable.US released the following statement in response:
“After decades of denying climate science and fighting efforts to meaningfully address the climate crisis, it is hardly a surprise to see API is up to its old tricks again,” said Kyle Herrig, president of Accountable.US. “It hasn’t even been a week since they pledged to help usher in an era of collaboration to meet the challenges of climate change and they are already undermining their headline grabbing-gimmick.”
