WASHINGTON, D.C. As April draws to a close, the latest unemployment figures underline the economic catastrophe playing out across the country. Amidst this record unemployment, the country is still experiencing shortfalls in testing and spikes in worker deaths, making reopening the economy all the more difficult.

“Today’s numbers are a result of the President’s failure to prepare for a pandemic. Now that we’re in the midst of a crisis, the administration is more interested in helping big businesses and special interests than supporting small businesses on the brink of collapse,” said Kyle Herrig, President of Accountable.US. “There are no easy ways to solve this crisis. The American people need access to testing, safe work environments, and confidence in our government. Unfortunately, the President remains more interested in his travel schedule than actually serving the American people.”
