WASHINGTON, D.C. – Trump Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin left Tuesday’s House Financial Services Committee hearing without adequately answering key questions regarding the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) disproportionately leaving minority-owned small businesses behind, foreign businesses receiving PPP loans, and full disclosure and transparency measures to inform the public.
In response, Accountable.US released the following statement:

“Mnuchin’s testimony told us more of what we already know: the PPP has been mismanaged from the start. They failed to provide relief to those who need it most, particularly to already-disadvantaged communities of color, and instead doled out millions of dollars to big firms,” said Derek Martin, spokesman for Accountable.US. “As the Trump recession carries on and millions of small businesses are at risk of closing, American taxpayers are left with more questions than answers.”
