VISIT THE TRACKER

Washington, D.C. — Today, government watchdog Accountable.US launched a new interactive resource that will allow the public to search Fortune 500 corporations and big corporate trade associations that have contributed to those in Congress that voted against certifying the 2020 election since January of this year — including corporations that broke their pledges to halt or pause donations to the lawmakers that perpetuated the Big Lie. The tracker follows the Federal Election Committee (FEC)’s release of monthly PAC disclosures where trade groups and corporations were forced to disclose their most recent campaign donations.

Among the searchable site’s other features are options to compile the top five corporations or big corporate trade associations that donated to individual objectors since January. The site currently features all public FEC data from 2021 on this universe of corporate PACs and will be updated in real-time moving forward.

“The violent assault on the Capitol and our democracy will be forever etched in the national conscience, but many corporations are disturbingly quick to forgive and forget. These companies seem to think they can have it both ways: vocally declaring support for democracy while quietly streaming money to those who tried to destroy it,” said Kyle Herrig, president of Accountable.US. “Corporations donating to members of the Sedition Caucus are showing that nothing trumps their desire to hold political influence, not even a healthy democracy — and they’re mistaken if they think their customers, employers, and shareholders won’t care.”

The interactive resource is part of Accountable.US’ ongoing effort calling out those who continue to perpetuate twice-impeached, disgraced former President Trump’s Big Lie, including corporations. Last month, the group launched a live blog exposing big businesses and their executives’ donations to Texas lawmakers peddling the Big Lie.

In July, Accountable.US also released a report revealing that contributions from the top 25 PACs that gave to lawmakers who voted against certifying the results of the 2020 Election totaled $1.5 million in the second quarter — contributions made after they casted their votes and following the deadly Capitol riot.
