Drug company raises price of 60-pill bottle to $2,206.52 as it pushes government to allow use for coronavirus treatment
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Patients Over Pharma released the following statement in response to the breaking news that the publicly traded Jaguar Pharmaceuticals tripled the price of its antidiarrheal medication after asking the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to authorize emergency use of the drug for coronavirus patients.
“This is another example of drug company coronavirus price gouging and a perfect demonstration of the need for Congress to take immediate action to make sure that coronavirus vaccines and treatments are affordable and accessible to every American,” said Eli Zupnick, spokesman for Patients Over Pharma. “Big Pharma is focused on expanding their already sky-high profits, but policymakers need to put patients first and stop this kind of price gouging from happening again.”
