U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy defended his changes to the U.S. Postal Service Monday and promised to “fix” the nationwide mail delays that have resulted, as he and USPS Board of Governors chairman Robert Duncan appeared before the House Oversight Committee in a heated hearing reflecting Democrats’ outrage over the impact of DeJoy’s leadership on mail delivery and the November election.

Progressive watchdog group Accountable.us called Monday for Duncan to be removed from the U.S. Postal Service board for his “extensive history of involvement in voter disenfranchisement efforts” in his work with the RNC. A 2007 report cited Monday by the Huffington Post found that during his tenure as the party’s general counsel from 2004 to 2006, RNC officials “challenged the eligibility of at least 77,000 voters.”
