Washington D.C. – Government watchdog Accountable.US released a new analysis spotlighting major corporations that made public statements commemorating Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day after contributing at least $854,000 to lawmakers that oppose voting rights protections that especially benefit women of color.

Senate Republicans have voted in lockstep to block both the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act — described by the League of Women Voters as legislation that would ensure all Americans could cast their ballots “regardless of their age, race, sex, language, or zip code.”

How can any corporation really claim to be an ally of women while they throw money at politicians determined to make it harder for women of color to cast their ballots? These companies can either follow their own stated values in support of women or continue to choose political influence over their stated values. But they can't do both, and they need to stop trying to mislead their customers, shareholders, and employees about which path they choose.”
