Washington, D.C. — After a Trump administration rule on greenhouse gases was thrown out, 18 Republican attorneys general and the governor of Mississippi are making a hail mary pitch to the Supreme Court, asking it to limit the Biden administration’s ability to regulate greenhouse gases in the energy sector, citing their concerns about the industry’s bottom line.

“These attorneys general have made their strategy clear: delay progress by throwing bogus lawsuits at the wall and hope the Trump-packed Supreme Court will make them stick. This latest suit is nothing more than an attempt to stop the Biden administration from tackling the climate crisis. Putting climate change and the American people on the back burner solely to benefit the energy sector’s bottom line is not a good look,” said Kyle Herrig, president of Accountable.US.
