Biden Admin Should Reform Public Lands Leasing Program Without Further Delay

Washington, D.C. — Today, the Senate Energy Committee held hearings for a handful of President Biden’s Interior Department nominees, including Laura Daniel-Davis, who would manage the administration’s oil and gas leasing policy in her capacity as assistant Interior secretary for lands and minerals management. In response, Accountable.US released the following statement calling for the Senate’s swift confirmation of Daniel-Davis and for the Biden administration to move forward on reforming the public lands leasing program without further delay:

“With so much work still to be done to protect the nation’s public lands, the Senate must move quickly to confirm Laura Daniel-Davis to the Interior Department,” said Kyle Herrig, president of Accountable.US. “With the end of summer at our doorstep, the American people are still waiting on the Biden administration to reform the public lands leasing program and take decisive action to put taxpayers and the environment ahead of oil and gas company executives looking to boost their bottom lines. The administration must forward without further delay — the sanctity of our nation‘s public lands depends on it.”
