WASHINGTON, DC – Today, government watchdog Accountable.US praised President Joe Biden’s selection of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as the first Black woman on the U.S. Supreme Court and called for the swift consideration of her nomination by the U.S. Senate. The group also pointed to research showing the president’s nominees of color, especially women, have faced longer confirmation processes than his white male nominees.

We applaud President Biden’s historic nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court and call for her swift consideration by the Senate. Throughout President Biden’s time in office, his nominees of color, especially women, in key cabinet-level departments have faced much longer paths to confirmation than his white male nominees. These racial and gender disparities should sound alarm bells as Judge Jackson prepares for her Senate confirmation. She deserves a fair and timely confirmation so she can get to work on behalf of the American people.”
