Jess Maher is the Executive Director of the Western Energy Project, which works to protect the treasured landscapes of the American West.

Previously, Jess served in the Obama White House, initially as the Associate Director for Legislative Affairs at the Council on Environmental Quality and then as a Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs. Prior to that, Jess worked for members of the House of Representatives and the United States Senate.

A native of Lawrence, Kansas, Jess received a B.Sc from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University.
